We follow the internationally recognised Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Exams are recognised by Ofqual and contribute to UCAS points, and their current president is Darcey Bussell.
Junior Classes
Tap
Tap is complex, highly skilled and great fun! For young dancers in particular this style is very popular-(or maybe it is just the loud noise that is so compelling!) It is a perfect choice for all dancers who enjoy rhythm and style.
Many students who choose Modern Theatre also study Tap. At the earliest grades we combine the 2 genres.
Modern Theatre Dance
If you love to move, and want a broader range of styles alongside pure classical dance, ʻModern Theatreʼ is the perfect syllabus. Think WestEnd Musicals!
The syllabus includes many up-to-date styles including lyrical, jazz, and contemporary and promotes technique, artistry and musicality.
Acro
We follow the ‘Acrobatic Arts’ training program created especially for dance educators to safely teach Acro Dance. Each session begins with a thorough warm-up, flexibility and strengthening exercises, moving on to specific skills e.g. forward roll, cartwheel, handstand and bridge. Finally creating a choreographed acro sequence for demonstration or end-of-year performance.
Red Shoes Company
We started Red Shoes Company in 2019 as a direct result of Miss Nicky’s arrival at Red Shoes. There is nothing Nicky enjoys more than choreographing pieces for her company of dancers. She has a unique talent for understanding what each dancer individually brings – and provides a platform for them to shine!
We have performed at the end-of-year show, Haslemere Hospital, and Shottermilll Junior Christmas Fair – next up is the Coronation Parade and Summer Concert.
